Chicken & Blues is proud to support Bournemouth’s Summer Abrahams in her inspiring campaign raising funds to tackle India’s oxygen crisis.
Summer has walked 16 miles every day to raise money for oxygen and oxygen cylinders to support those with Covid-19 in India. A devastating second wave of coronavirus in India has seen hospitals and crematoriums overwhelmed and widespread shortages of oxygen and medicines.
Summer: “The sheer scale of the crisis is so terrible. I have seen so much on the news about the situation in India and it’s just sad news every day. Oxygen is such a basic thing, and hospitals and patients are severely struggling without it. I hope this walk will raise vital funds to send as many oxygen cylinders to Delhi as possible in this crisis.”
Joshua Simons, C&B: “We are delighted to support this campaign undertaken by Summer. The Chicken & Blues Neighbourhood Fund will donate £150 directly, which is enough to purchase 10 cylinders of oxygen. Walking 500 miles, as Summer has, is a serious undertaking – we’d like to congratulate Summer on this fantastic achievement in raising both awareness and funds for the current crisis in India”.
The length of the challenge is equivalent to walking from London to Paris and back. Summer completed the challenge just last week, having walked eight miles every morning from 5.30am, and eight and a half miles every evening from 5.30pm.
Every single donation made will make more oxygen. To support Summer’s campaign, you can donate to her fundraiser here.
