On Tuesday 5th September 2023, at Chicken & Blues’ annual charity golf day at Remedy Oak Golf Club, Bournemouth-based Harry Cummings made an incredible hole-in-one to win a £25,000 cash prize!
Remarkably, with the odds of a hole-in-one by an amateur golfer thought to be around 12,500-1, this miracle shot was captured on camera by C&B’s team. The hole-in-one came on the 185-yard 9th hole.
Sky Sports Golf analyst and former European Tour Professional, Zane Scotland, was in attendance to host the day and was green-side when Harry struck his momentous shot.
Zane Scotland: ‘In all my years of attending golf days around the world, I have never seen an amateur golfer hole a shot to win a prize as awesome as this. It was a brilliant moment and I’m buzzing for Harry and his family. Well done mate!’
Harry Cummings: ‘I still can’t believe it! I’m an occasional golfer at best, and obviously this is my first hole-in-one. We thought it was close, and then heard some shouting from around the green – from there, it’s all a bit of a blur to be honest! Thanks to everyone that organised the day – my family have just moved into a new home – the winnings will go a long way – what incredible timing!’
Joshua Simons, C&B: ‘What a brilliant story. As most golfers know, hole-in-ones very rarely happen in this game, not least on a hole during an event with such a great prize! Harry is such a worthy winner – we’re all delighted for him!’.
Harry has since announced that he is making a generous donation from his winnings to The Steve Bernard Foundation, the beneficiary of the day and Chicken & Blues’ chosen charity of the year.
